Week 2 Roundup

09/05/2012 00:34

On to the Week's action, and some big upsets:

Group A:

Goombie continued rolling, 3-1 over Salem, with another dominant/eye-catching team.  Krad, coming off a loss to Goombie, was expected to establish themselves in this game, but fell to Paladine. Paladine took a 2-0 lead and never relenquished control, and now are assured of advancement, with Goombie, from A.

Group B:

Bushwackers went two out of two in wins so far, with a victory over Tahr 3-0.  DVB just misses out on the "300 club" by a mere 3 points.  And is a clear top 2 favorite at the moment to win the whole Cup.  In the epic battle of the week, Tenpool and Ocala played out a thrilling 3-3 draw. Both teams held leads(Ocala twice) but it never lasted. An early goal for Ocala, was followed by 2 from Tenpool, and they carried this lead to the half.  Ocala's strong central attack saw them score the next two to grab their second lead, but Tenpool fought back for a late equalizer.  Ocala will need a win and some help next week, or the defending champs are out.

Group C:

Gryffindor had a solid showing against old foe, Dolph Athletic for a 2-0 victory to go top in division C.  AC Fulmine got their first point of the cup, but holding favored LEzards to a 1-1 draw. A very defensive game, saw few chances, and now this group is wide open headed to week 3, with every team having a shot.

Group D:

The shocker of the day, and biggest upset in Dew Cup history goes to Devil Dolphins beating Hapuna, handily 4-1. I couldnt tell you how or why, but it was just there day today, and what a victory it was. Props. Beasts put a hurting on a usually solid Boston team 4-0 with newcomer, Homero getting all 4.  These results put all teams on 3 points with one game left...a thrilling way to end it.
