Week 1 Roundup, Now With AWARDS

Group A

     Goombie won comfortably over a very Solid Krad team 2-0.  Krad would have been good enough to beat most teams on this day, but Goombie's team was a scary sight for all it's future opponents, with accumulating for the first time in Cup history, 300 HatStats.  Paladine dominated Salem to the tune of 5-0 using a very balanced team to get it done. 

 

Group B:

    A very attack-minded Tenpool downed FC Tahr 4-1 in our first of two matches from the group of Death, and in the other: Bushwackers got a measure of revenge on Ocala for their semifinal defeat in the last cup with a 3-1 victory in the opener.  These two teams have become quite familiar with one another in the Dew Cup, and this time DVB got off to a fast start and never looked back.  I think the record between them now stands at 2-1-1(DVB).  

 

Group C:

    The top two teams in the group, Lezards and Gryffindor, battled it out to a 1-1 draw, a fair result for two very evenly matched opponents.  Gryffindor was in control for a good portion of the game, but eventually Lezards got the deserved leveler and the two remained gridlocked. And in the other fixture, Dolph Athletic polished off AC Fulmine with a comfortable 3-1 win.

 

Group D:

     Hapuna's vaunted attack met BEast's formidable defense, and this team Hapuna won out, cruising to a 3-1 victory to set the tone in Group D. The Blue Devils made a nice come from behind 2-1 win over Devil Dolphins to get a vital 3 points, with tougher fixtures on the horizon.

Awards:

 

Match of the week: Bush v Ocala
- Bushwackers took an interesting counter-attack strategy which resulted in an early goal. They followed up 2 minutes later with another goal to put them up 2-0. In the 73 minute Ocala got one back and it looked like another comeback upset might happen... and then... a penalty for Bushwackers! They put it away killing Ocala's momentum and won 3-1 against the former tourney champions.

Team of the Week:Goombie
- 1st Team in Cup history to achieve 300Hatstas, 5 sectors reached a brilliant rating or higher, well done.

Player of the Week: Seran Vles (DOLPH)
- Some sweet skills resulting in a brace.
