Dolph Athletic was nominated for upset to watch of the week for the second straight week, and this time got a result against Gryffindor. A team ear-marked by many, as one to watch for the future, looked to be headed for another loss trailing 3-1 with 15 minutes to play, but Berislav Bertosa scored not one, but two free kick goals to level the match and secure Athletic with their first point of the tourney. Ocala benefited from another Boston forfeit, sad to see a team no show the Cup.  The Athletic-Gryffindor draw puts added drama on the Ocala-Gryffindor matchup in the 3rd round. Gryffindor with a win, takes the group, but a big defeat could knock them out.

C
Krad continued their impressive start to Dew Cup 5 with a 4-2 victory over FC Plamp. Plamp showed themselves to be a strong side once again, and made the match interesting at 1-1 and 3-2, but Krad were once again, too good for this group. At this point, Krad has made a statement, and could be the next first time Champion.  The other fixture saw Tahr down Dolphins 2-1. While Tahr lost midfield, their solid defense kept DD at bay for most of the match, and despite a late scare, held on for the three points. While Krad is all but assured of advancement, Tahr and Plamp will battle it out for the other advancement spot next week.

B
The number one ranked team in the Cup, Beasts, continued on with another victory, this time over Fulmine 3-1.  Beasts actually trailed 1-0 after ’25, but turned it on, to grab the next 3(including two from start Homero) to cruise to victory. In the featured match of the round, defending champ Tenpool got off the snide in Series 5 with a 4-2 win over Bushwackers. DVB gave away two gifted goals to Tenpool, who looked ready to cruise through the match, but Bushwackers found the next two goals to even the score and appeared to be gaining control of the match, when Anthony Pulliam headed home a corner(his second goal today) and Tenpool took the lead once again, and found some late insurance to seal the victory. If Tenpool takes care of business next week, they will advance out of the Group of Death with Beasts. The shocker of the Cup already, has to be DVB being all but eliminated at such an early stage.

A

Group A starts off with Goombie answering last week’s loss, with an emphatic 4-0 win over Lezards. Regis Huertier set the pace with a hattrick and this former champ looks back on track.  In A’s other fixture, Dribblers and Hapuna played out the thriller of the round. Hapuna, fresh off a big win over Goombie last week, came out firing with 2 early goals, and looked to be headed to another big victory. Less than a minute passed, and Dribblers Frank Gonzalez fired back, 2 goals in 2 minutes! And we were assured to have a real game on our hands, 2-2 at the break.. With the second half underway the action quieted down a bit before Dribblers set off more fireworks, in the 76’ taking a 3-2 lead.  Hapuna immediately answered on a corner to make it 3-3, the crowd, not even having time to process the goals, when Jed Rainey propelled himself thru Hapuna’s defense, to score a brilliant solo goal and what is ultimately the winner, 4-3 Dribblers. What a match, hopefully these two meet again, Dribblers impressing on their inaugural Dew Cup run.  Much is still to be decided in this group, and the 3rd round of fixtures will be intense.
