D
Group D’s focus on the last day was the epic 16th encounter between rivals Ocala and FC Gryffindor. While Dolph Athletic endured a tough forfeit from Boston, they looked on hoping one of these teams would crush the other to obtain advancement from the group. Ocala came out firing and seized control with a goal from veteran Heerkes, and followed it up with a slew of chances, Gryffindor just holding on for their lives. Paul Krontiris of Gryffindor found only crossbar as Gryffindor looked to grab some momentum, but appeared shaken headed to the break 1-0 down. The second half was as quiet as could be in comparison to the shootout in the first stanza, but Gryffindor looked to push it’s wingers higher up to grab an equalizer and clutch performer, Herbert found the crucial goal, the lone chance of the half, and this battle ends like the last one, all even. Ocala takes the group, and Gryffindor marches on as well.
C
Krad continued their impressive cup with a 4-0 win over Dolphins. Krad is really building momentum for the knockout stages, and just missed out on the 300 Club again. In the other fixture, a battle for advancement, FC Plamp put a hurt on Tahr 5-1. Johan Bleck scored an impressive first half hattrick and Plamp never looked back, cruising to victory, and reaching the knockout stages with Krad in their inaugural Dew Cup.
B
Tenpool made easy work of Fulmine despite a strong midfield and defense put out by their opponent, winning 3-0 and advancing out of B. Bushwackers, despite being eliminated had something left to say in this group’s outcome with their showdown against Beasts. The Beasts got off to a quick start, their 2nd minute goal(the quickest of the tourney) saw them seize initial control. Not too long after, DVB won themselves a penalty, which was buried by Becque to even the tie, and Becque set up another on a well worked free kick and Bushwackers had fully swung the momentum in their favor. The Beasts potent counter-attack came out firing after Half time, and again got an early goal almost immediately on restart, to even things up again, this time 2-2. Jose Serpa of Bushwackers was the man to step up and find his team the winner, overlapping on the left wing and burying the winner, 3-2 to Death Valley. The loss, means Tenpool wins the group and Beasts finishes second.
A
Group A had a lot of possible endings and outcomes. Goombie and Dribblers were meeting in a titanic clash, Goombie needing a win and some help From LEzards in their matchup with Hapuna. We look at these games in unison: Hapuna was the first team to score, Cesar Mesen capitalizing on a mistake from Lezard’s defense and finishing the chance off 1-0. While Goombie was alerted to the score their own defense blundered and Dribblers took adavantage at the 15’ mark 1-0. Cesar struck again in the ’28 and Danielson followed him right up, 3-0 Hapuna and Goombie was not happy to hear the score. Lezards got on the board to make it 3-1, and Goombie found the back of the net twice in secession heading to halftime 2-1 up, but not getting help from Lezards who were 3-1 down to Hapuna. In the 50th, Doug Dale of Hapuna made it 4-1 and it looked like it was all over, Hapuna and Dribblers assured of advancement. And Dribblers helped their own cause 9 minutes later to fire home and get even with Goombie 2-2. In the 77th minute Goombie struck finding the eventual winner 3-2, but LEzards late assault which included back to back goals to get within 1 would not be enough. Hapuna has won the group, and Dribblers, in their first cup, also advances.
