Group Stage final week roundup from Beasts:
A
The final week in group A had two surprising results, showing that possession can often be the weakness of any team. Krad drew against Devil Dolphins in a 1-1 stalemate. The returning runner-up Krad can not feel great coming out of that match, it was an upset for sure. However, I am sure they will be looking ahead to the Quater Final round and beyond. The other match also result in an upset, with huge consequences for returning Dew champ Dribblers. In a 3-2 match, Lezards showed that a lot of possession and a little bit of luck can take down even the best team. Lezards will be advancing to the QFs, leaving Dribblers out. This champions curse is real
B
Over in group B, Gryffindor managed to hold on to first place in the group with a 2-2 tie against FC Plamp. Despite jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, Gryffindor could not manage to hold on against a tremendous central attack and possession from Plamp. In the other fixture DVB beat Dolph 0-3. However, due to the tie between the other two teams, DVB's hopes and elimination play and possibly another championship were dashed. Gryffindor and Plamp advance out of the group, looking like two dangerous teams who have maybe been a little underrated in the past couple of weeks.
C
When the fans came to see Hapuna take on Salem Meadows they thought they were going to see a soccer game. Instead they got a baseball game. In the highest scoring game that I have ever personally seen, Hapuna trounced Salem 11-3 to secure a play off spot. The scored more goals than there are chances in a game, if you see these guys in the elimination matches, watch out! Goombie also secured a play off spot by winning 2-0 over Tahr. Goombie put on their usual good team, and will be dangerous for those down the road.
D
The final week of group D sees The Beasts and Tenpool on top of the group. Tenpool took the match against Fulmine 2-0 against a decent showing by the underdogs Fulmine. In the other match the Beasts took a 5-1 victory over the usually hot Ocala. The result was a little unfair but Ocala is elimated regardless. The Beasts and Tenpool are good looking teams to advance, and will be dangerous in the play offs.
