Group Previews for Series 6

Group A

   It may be a tough call in decideing between Group A and Group C as to which is the Group of Death, but it cannot be overlooked that this group has the reigning champion and runner up drawn together. Dribblers accepted their invitation to the Dew Cup and tore apart series 5, becoming our first ever rookie winner. Krad may have been shutout in the final, but are a scary team, and can win against anybody, including Dribblers. They will both meet two tough teams in Lezards and Dolphins.  Lezards have been a thorn in many a teams side with their strong defense and mifdield, and Dolphins hold perhaps the greatest upset in Dew History, can they repeat it? It looks like Krad and Dribblers are strong favorites, but an upset could turn things on their head. 

 

GROUP B

   This eccletic group of teams should make for an anything goes type of group.  Bushwackers, a former champion will be the favorite, outstanding balance and a strong midfield, seem a bad matchup for any of the teams in this group.  Can they rekindle past tournament magic and erase their recent bad memories? Gryffindor's strong defense will be one team hoping to knock them off. A tough draw for Gryffindor in the Quarters saw them fall to eventual runner up KRad last time out, and they will find this group tougher to advance from. Two teams on the rise, Dolph Athletic and FC Plamp will have plenty to say. Dolph's team has been making waves recently, and took a point off Gryffindor in the last cup with a scintilating comeback, and Plamp in their first tourney reached the knockout stages. Our predictor has it 1. DVB and 2. Anyone's guess.

 

GROUP C

   This group features two consistently strong teams in Hapuna and Goombie. Goombie has won the Dew Cup, and Hapuna always makes at least the semifinals. These two teams are impressive on paper, but know how to get results, and their matchup in week 1 will surely be Titanic.  Salem makes their Dew Cup retun with a much stronger team than we last saw, and one that will have the other teams in the group weary. FC Tahr is another tough team to breakdown, they have taken points off favored teams before and can do so again.   While Goombie and Hapuna will be favored, the need to get full points in their other games is crucial to avoid an early exit. 

 

GROUP D

   For my money, this is the Group of Death. Two former champions: Ocala and Tenpool, and one of the best to yet win: Beasts. Tenpool followed up a series 4 championship with another run to the semis in series 5 before falling to Dribblers.  Tenpool puts out consistently great teams, and for me are the favorites to break the champions curse and become our first two time winner.  Ocala and Beasts, though not similar in style are similar in being the managers who get the most out of their teams. Beats survived the Group of Death last time out and are tasked with doing so again. Their fantastic defensive side will be as tough as ever and determined to avoid their early Quarterfinal  exit like last time. Ocala  won their group in series 5 but were drawn against eventual champ Dribblers and their run ended in the Quarters as well. A strong midfield and potent attack, make them a daunting task for any manager to plan for. AC Fulmine are the hard luck team again, in getting a horrible group Draw, but the other managers will no doubt be worried about their ability to dominate posssession.  Tough group to call, the head to head matchups are crucial, too close to preidct it.
