The clubs of Group D would argue with Group A being named the group of Death, and would look forward to some possible matchups down the road with said teams. This group features 3 clubs in the top 7 rated by their fellow managers.
Ocala comes in ranked 5th in our pre-tourney polls, fresh off a runners up finish in the last Dew Cup, this followed up a semifinals appearance in the first ever Dew Cup. The team just performs to the best of their ability in these formats, and much credit must be given to the manager, who has built a solid team top to bottom, and one that is nearly impossible and always frustrating to plan for. Ocala will have some tough, familiar foes to deal with in their quest to advance:
The Beasts come in ranked 6th and these two have become very familiar with each other in recent weeks. Ocala and Beasts have met in 2 Dew Cup semifinals already. With each gaining a win. The Beasts challenge DVB for supremacy in defense, and can score goals as well, they tend to be very tough to scout and plan for, and like Ocala, always perform.
The 7th ranked team, Gryffindor has a lot to prove after two poor Dew Cup performances. Another club who can claim a dominant defense, Gryffindor will look to improve midfield play and create more chances if they hope to over come Beasts(a team they have lost to twice previously) and their long time foe: Ocala. Ocala and Gryffindor have met 14 times, all the way back to division 6 where the clubs started.
Sinaloa no doubt, rues their luck in being drawn into this group and will experience a short tournament.
Any of the top 3 teams could advance, but until Gryffindor steps up their game, Beasts and Ocala must be favored. A huge battle on the last week of the group between Ocala and Gryffindor may be all to play for, but the opening Gryffindor-Beasts Clash will set the tone.
